All-Cambolian Classic 2008

This past weekend it was the time for the second annual All-Cambolian Classic softball game. The team captains were Nana and Kevin. The teams were the Sake Bombers (red) and the Bluekake (blue). Vân and I were on the same team, the Sake Bombers, this time.

We won 18-4. That's quite a comeback from loosing 32-33 last year. There seemed to be better defense this year: a more focused infield and much fewer errors. On the offense side, we played good "small" ball, running out grounders and getting contact when we needed it. We had one HR from Mark, Duy's roommate. Meanwhile the Bluekake couldn't drop it in for a solid base hit. They started to get warm in a few frames, but most innings went by quietly.

We even played 9 innings this year!

After the game, some of the guys played a few rounds of home run derby. I'm not sure who won that, but no one was getting as many home runs as we thought was possible since the field was so short.

All in all, everyone liked this field much better. After the game we decided to head back to our house for Korean BBQ and some cool conversation. We started to finish off the snacks we had left over from the game. Vân and I had to force the leftovers onto our friends.
